Intermediate Wind Band rehearse weekly, during school time, at Whitchurch High School on the Lower School site. Weekly rehearsals are 2 hours, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on a Monday evening. The band is a small ensemble dedicated to the development of ensemble techniques for brass, woodwind and percussion pupils from grade 2 upwards.
Pupils play music from different genres written specifically for wind band, which gives them a different experience from a larger orchestra. During the academic year, the wind band will typically perform in three concerts.
Each section of players is supported by a specialist member of staff who can advise and support pupils during rehearsals. These tutors are qualified teaching staff and tutors from CF Music Education who have significant experience working with pupils of all ages and standards.
Entry to the ensemble is by audition and pupils must be year 6 and above with Grade 2 or above (or the equivalent standard).
Please see the timetable below for Intermediate Wind Band’s full timetable for 2024 to 25.
All rehearsals are held in Whitchurch High School Lower Site, CF14 1WL.
