New for 2024-25, our CF Music Academi provides an exciting range of bespoke activities that support and develop a rounded musical experience for young musicians wishing to develop their potential to the highest level.
Designed and delivered in partnership with musicians from the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Welsh National Opera, and those with experience in teaching at conservatoire level. The programme will provide students with the pathway they need to find their own musical voice and direction.
The programme includes:
- Musicianship / workshop sessions (theory, aural, composition and song-writing),
- Tuition Extra, our programme of extra individual music lessons,
- Chamber music coaching
- Improvisation/jazz development programme
- Mini Music
It is based across three locations: Stanwell School Penarth, (Saturdays only), Whitchurch High School (Lower Site) and Chapter Arts Centre. The days and times are detailed below.
Saturday ACADEMI Programme – Stanwell School
Saturday Academi at Stanwell School is a package made up of individual tuition, chamber ensemble coaching sessions, vocal and instrumental workshops and musicianship lessons.

Vocal Programme
The vocal programme is part of the Saturday Academi offer at Stanwell School. It offers weekly sessions for vocalists wanting to improve their technique, perform with confidence and learn new skills.

- Learn and improve your language skills and pronunciation in Italian, French and German
- Perfect for those students preparing for graded singing exams, or GCSE/A Level music
- The workshops are run by our experienced vocal tutors

Mini Music
Mini Music is our weekly music group aimed at pupils aged 4 to 8. It is held at Stanwell School on Saturdays from 10 to 11am.
The group is aimed at complete beginners looking for an introduction to music in a fun group setting. The supportive nature of the class allows children to discover their curiosity for music whilst exploring different instruments, rhythm and musical skills.
The cost is £105 per term for 1 hour session per week.
Tuition Extra
We are offering individual tuition outside of school hours. Specialist tutors are available to cater for all ages and abilities.
Pupils working at above grade 8 standard will be assessed and matched to the most appropriate teacher. The location of the lesson may be subject to availability and specialism / instrument. To buy a shorter series or consultation or one off lessons, please contact us.

Theory and Musicianship
These sessions help build essential skills that support a rounded musical knowledge.
The programme includes:
- Musical Theory
- Aural Skills
- Preparation for ABRSM Grade 5 Theory exam
This is ideal for any pupils preparing for graded theory exams, or GCSE and A Level music. The programme is available at Whitchurch High School ( lower site) from 5pm to 6pm on Fridays during term time.
These classes are recommended for pupils who are year 6 and above. All theory grade standards are welcome.
All pupils will get 30 sessions per year. Each session is 1 hour long.
Groove Masters
Join our exciting new ensemble the Groove Masters as we explore the world of jazz, funk and improvisation.
Groove Masters will allow you to develop your own unique sound, learn new techniques and share new ideas with friends. Learn about the rich history of jazz and improvised music from other cultures across the world.
Through jam sessions, creative workshops and practical theory classes, discover the endless possibilities of your instrument with the Groove Masters.
